Adult only classes every M-TH are great! I like Shihan Ty’s focus on practical self-defense techniques and empty-handed skills. I highly recommend this class for anyone searching to learn life-saving, personal self defense. As his motto says, “We Go Home!”
My son has been attending thos school for almost a year. We love the family feel and the top notch training!

“This is a great place to work out and learn martial arts from great trainers.”
“Great positive environment and very clean facility.”
“Great place to workout, but not personal at all.”
I took my son in the late 90’s to a kick boxing class and my son was abused by the instructor.
Eric and his staff provide the absolute best experience and offers the most for the best value. Highly recommend.
I’ve done walking, running, treadmill, lifting, zumba, etc. Those were all boring and repetitious after the first couple of times. But THIS (!!!!!) is an amazing place. I’ve joined for the Muay Thai classes and i absolutely love coming every chance i get. With Muay Thai, you use the 8 points (knees, elbows, hands and feet) so the variety in the classes is perfect. The instructors are awesome because they always have the patience and want you to get better. This is a place where being aggressive is a positive thing and I have never felt more at home. It is a wee bit pricey but it’s so worth it. I wake up the next morning and feel sore (woo!) and i look forward to going the next class. It’s worth the investment in yourself if you want to get in shape, lose weight, let off steam, learn some technique/discipline or start something that you can stick with for a long time.

“Great coach great fundamentals & great price for 4 days a week!”
“Check around and see how many other academy’s have this many accomplishments.”
“Especially being a beginner.”
My daughter has been going here for about a month and she loves it! She is coming out of her shell as well as learning confidence. Oh and I should mention Ferny Ji Jitsu is the best in the state!
First time going to Ferny’s class today, I had a great time! I’m almost 30 years old attending the adult class at 6:30, this was my first time participating anything like jiu-jitsu I have to say, the coach (Ferny), students, and environment really made it a comfortable experience for me. Especially being a beginner. I look forward to learning more about the sport from Ferny and getting into shape!
We’ve been a part of this team going on 4 years now. If it wasn’t for the coach we wouldn’t have lasted this long. He’s the reason my kids keep going. Gym is very clean. Coach is easy to talk to. Great instructor. Great environment.
Goju Ryu Karate-Do Bakersfield
The circular emblem that you see before you was created by O’Hara Sensei and Wilson Sensei. O’Hara Sensei came up with most of the design and Wilson Sensei developed the meaning of the emblem. The first Kanji “Go” represents the hard aspect of the art. Go also represents day, the Sun, high tide, muscle, body and physical technique. The second Kanji, “Ju” represents the soft aspects of the art. Ju also represents night, the Moon, low tide, breath, mind, and mental understanding. The last Kanji from the top is “Ryu” which means school or style. Thus the Kanji read together translates as: “The hard soft school” or “Hard and Soft style.” Ryu also refers to the virtues of Karate. The shape of the circular outline represents Heaven and Earth. The red in the center emphasizes the importance of understanding Ju (internal) aspects and the importance of not shedding blood through the inappropriate use of karate-do.
