Our girls have only been going a couple months, but we love it. They are learning discipline, respect, self control and how to defend themselves. As a parent I like that you can observe the class and that the instructors are very hands on.

Love this place! My boys have been going here since May and they’ve already learned so much. They’re more disciplined and more respectful. As a parent I love the strictness and motivation Master and Mrs. Cummings provide. As children, my boys know they’re cared about and are proud to be members.

KiCK Martial Arts & Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Kansas City
At KiCK we have a heart for orphaned and abandoned children, that’s why part of your tuition sends children in an orphanage in Leogane, Haiti to get an education. We live in a world that says that adults, not children, have the firepower to catalyze positive change. Children are to be cared for (or not) until they become adults, at which time they can make a positive impact on the world around them. We completely disagree. We see that this limiting view of children is completely inverse to the truth: children catalyze change. That is why our KiCK logo has a child doing an inverted kick! Our 5yo son has been attending for a month. It is fun to watch the kids listening and following directions from the instructors. The instructors are awesome. They are very energetic and in tune to the kids level of ability. They break down all of the moves to the kids level so that can easily repeat and learn. Their are lots of games mixed in with instruction. Our son is building confidence, respect, and responsibility.

From day 1 the communication has been fantastic. We have 3 kids enrolled and they all love it! They look forward to each class and I can already tell they are picking up important life skills (respect, patience and courtesy) after just a few weeks. Mr. Burt provides a comfortable atmosphere where the kids are expected to work hard but also have fun. Definitely would recommend if your kiddos are curious about karate. Lots of class times to fit around the busy parent’s schedule.

My family went to 3 different schools before we came across Tom Burt at AKKA Independence. We saw our kids get a max of 5 min per session at one place, due to overcrowding. Scare tactics like, stranger danger at another. And zero enthusiasm at the last. Tom Burt shows wisdom, excitement, and genuine interest in each of his students. He teaches kids, and adults alike that, while sometimes it is hard, the process makes you a more confident person. His ultimate goal, from my point of view, is to help make you the best person you can be. He and his teaching style are a real inspiration. I highly recommend Tom Burt and his school to all who are looking to learn a martial art, and to become a better more confident person.

My son and I have been going to AKKA independence for about 7 months. We truly are a part of a family. The instructors are amazing. They take the time to work with you, and encourage you. My son and I look forward to class every week. It has been teaching my teenager confidence, how to set goals and achieve them, it’s making him stronger and it has given us time to bond together. Best money ever spent. I have done martial arts in the past, and this is by far the best place!

Omega Karate was a great experience and made a significant impact on the children in our summer program! Nearly 40 students ages 5 thru young adult participated in a workshop and they were captivated! I was particularly impressed with the leadership of the founder, Antoine Sanders and how he included his family and staff! The discipline, interaction, and physical enjoyment provided, connected with many ages.
Late Nightzzz Generation
Enrolled my daughter, little cousins and nephew and it was nothing short of exceptional! The instructor was hands on and ensured that everyone learned each move regardless of how many tries it took to do so. My daughter left classes fueled with excitement and enthusiasm as she showed me the karate moves she learned. As a father, I feel extremely proud that I got my daughter and family involved with Omega Karate Academy!

My 5 year old loves FastKick. They are incredibly professional and send out a weekly newsletter to keep you up to date on what’s going on. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is improving and has an opportunity to advance. We are so grateful we found them.

My 6 year old had tended to get upset with other sports since he was 4 for a few reasons. One is that they’re hard at that age and failing isn’t the most fun. Another is that they didn’t hold his attention well. Also when we have tried parks and rec sports it’s been a crazy ratio of kids to instructors and the parents end up having to be very hands on. Fastkick has been a great experience and confidence builder for him. There is usually 2-4 instructors for classes from anywhere from 4-10 kids so you can just sit back and watch for once. The instructors are great and good with kids. Classes are 30 minutes which is perfect. His coordination has gotten better which has been great too. I highly recommended Fastkick for any parent with young ones.
