“An amazing place for fitness, spirit and mind.”
“It has been a great environment for our kids.”
“The skills they are learning go far beyond the dojang.”
Our son has been attending Hwa Rang Do for 5 years and it’s been a great experience for him. The instructors are wonderful with the kids, patient yet firm and committed to getting kids to be their most excellent selves.
They are also committed to being transparent with parents about costs and time commitment. Win-win!
My kids love training here. The mix of martial arts activity and discussion of concepts of leadership and responsibility are much appreciated! Their week-long summer camps are a favorite in my household.
We learned about TLK martial arts after school care 2 years ago and appreciated the focus on resiliency and growth. Our kids enjoyed the physical training, building new skills, and free time for games. It has been a great environment for our kids.

My Daughter has been learning karate through Hive for over 7 years. The instructors are awesome and so thoughtful. They really know how to individually motivate each kid. Their dedication to quality, both in teaching and in how much they care for and respect the art of karate, is inspiring. We couldn’t imagine sending our daughter anywhere else!

“Love the owner and the staff at this establishment.”
“We can’t wait to start earning trophies and work hard!”
“Great instructors, very knowledgeable.”
Great place for your child to learn Karate. Love the owner and the staff at this establishment. They are great with kids, very encouraging, but also good at teaching other skills — not just Karate. Discipline, respect, and determination. Very solid program with the tangible “rewards” — getting those stripes on your belt are very impactful for encouraging my son to keep going. Due to COVID-19, they also converted all of their lessons to Zoom if you need it which is FANTASTIC, because now we can still attend if we are traveling or not feeling 100%. Love it! You should enroll your kids here.
Love Jeff and his team and National Karate! Love the scheduling and approach they take. My kid loves going everyday!
I have been going here for over 10 years, this is a great studio and Jeff Sidner is an exceptional instructor

My son, recently did the grappling summer camp week and had a great time. Lunch is part of the cost of camp. They’ll sent the weeks menu, so you can plan ahead. Which is great if your in a rush you won’t forget it. From the feedback I received it was very fun. Camp starts at 8:30, the team arrives between 8:20-8:30am so no early dropoffs. The day ends at 5:00, but they’ll give you until 6:00pm to pickup which is huge with road construction traffic this year #2018mnDot.
Great job, very impressed
Kitsune Karate teaches Japanese Shotokan Karate in the Nokomis neighborhood of South Minneapolis. It is operated by husband and wife team Scott Parkin and Amy Sperling. “Kitsune is a fantastic place to learn traditional shotokan karate.”
“The staff is dedicated, welcoming and kind.”
“Price is affordable, times of class works great with after school and weekends.”
I restarted my karate career here five years ago after a 25 year hiatus. The teachers, Amy Sperling and Scott Parkin, pretty much shattered the stereotypes I had of Shotokan Karate being a rigid and perhaps brutal training regimen. The atmosphere is friendly and casual (enough) without foregoing the discipline and formality that many seek from the martial arts and that promote safety and learning. My favorite characteristic, however, is that at Kitsune we are encouraged to learn from anyone who has something of value to teach.
All the other 5-star reviews are true. This place is the antithesis of “strip mall Karate” joints. It’s authentic without being pretentious. There is no nickel-and-dime behavior. Their children’s programs are excellent, focused on fun & form over advancement & cutthroat competition.

There are so many wonderful things to say about this dojo! The instructors Scott, Amy, Marti, Ashley and Sara are top notch. They are amazing with children and teach in such a fun manner and have incredible skills. They offer the kids so many wonderful opportunities like doing competitions, demonstrations at public events and most importantly, discipline. Price is affordable, times of class works great with after school and weekends.
