Full Circle Kung Fu
Full Circle Kung Fu teaches two styles. Ba Gua Zhang Kung Fu (Ba Gua) uses advanced techniques and a specialized form of footwork to safely position yourself against one or more opponents. Tiger Kung Fu may be taught to our beginners, but provides the foundation and confidence to be decisive in any situation.
Students start by learning to combine simple movements and perform basic exercises before gradually being given more difficult forms/scenarios as they develop. Techniques from other practices such as BJJ, Judo, Wing Chun, boxing, Karate, including various weapon forms, etc., are integrated into our practice to aid in what to expect of different styles and opponents.
What sets Full Circle Kung Fu apart is our ability to allow change. You are not expected to be just like everyone else, but to evolve your own style of martial art created from strengths you already possess. We are not preparing you for the fighting ring, but for real life and longevity.

“He encourages sparing and application of technique in live situations.”
“I began my martial arts journey as a complete novice.”
I began my martial arts journey as a complete novice. And now, after training with Sifu Dotson for nearly 5 years, my desire to learn more has only strengthened.
The best part of Full Circle is undoubtedly its spirit. A relaxed learning environment led by a teacher who builds you up,no matter your age or skill level ,makes this class a rare jewel where everyone is able to learn at their own pace, and noone is made to feel unwelcome.
I personally have had the privilege of practicing with not only Sifu Dotson in this class, but also a variety of different people from all walks of life who share my enthusiasm for martial arts, fellowship and adventure. Folks who have since become my friends and have helped me grow not only as a martial artist, but as a person.
The saying is true: “A journey of a thousand mile begins with that first step”.
In this class you will not only learn Baguazhang, but also about yourself along the way.
poor school it was really diapponting
It’s been a year since I’ve started this system and so I feel more comfortable leaving a comment.
I was 389lbs when I started. I had ZERO confidence and suffered from extreme anxiety. I believed that there would be no reason to attempt Kung fu due to my size.
Then after a few months training with Sifu Joey, my confidence started to sore, I lost around 30 pounds, and I’m entirely too eager to see what lesson he puts out next. I’m still a big guy, but I forget in the moment when I’m performing techniques that I thought were impossible of me.
He teaches in a way that allows you, no matter your size or age, to get the most from the lessons. He will allow alternative methods of working out if an established one proves difficult or unreasonably taxing. Joey is patient and rewards the will to work hard. It almost seems like as long as you do your best, he will guarantee that you get there.
Joey also believes that regardless of the martial art, effective self defense is a main focus. You could argue that I should have done MMA or something similar for that, but after a year, I feel more confident in my ability to defend myself than I have the last three systems I’ve tried prior. He encourages sparing and application of technique in live situations.
Blah blah blah, he is not a school that omits sparring because he believes pressure testing is key.
The class harbors people from all backgrounds, and Joey makes a point to foster comradreie. I’ve met great peers that I hang out with on a first name basis. Classes aren’t so strict where you aren’t able to bond with your peers. We even go camping, shooting at the range, and game nights.
Tl:Dr I am actually really appreciative of this teacher and group because I didn’t realize martial arts could feel so rewarding. It was the sort of kinetic therapy I needed after years of hanging my head.

“Great Place to get exercise and discipline.”
“The children are confident, respectful and practicing karate moves like champs!”
“Hosting a qualifying event to participate in the USA Karate National tournament.”
For awhile me and the wife were looking at a place where my daughter could grow and learn. Everyone at the Dojo has been awesome! They teach manners, they work with the parents, they teach discipline, and better than that they have fun. My daughter has grown leaps and bounds since day one there. She looks forward to going and misses it when we are away. Kyoshi Hobson and his black belts are hands some of the best that I have been around. I did karate when I was younger and if I would have had the same experience and teachers, I would probably still be doing it. Whether or not my daughter keeps it up is not an issue because of all the life lessons she is learning and how she is growing. Thank you.
My son has been actively involved in Martial Acts for over two years. We moved to the Hampton Roads area from GA looking for a great place for him to continue his practice and based on the reviews we chose this place. He loved it here. The instructor are great and he thrived under their instructions but once we moved out of the area (Maryland) we attempted to cancel the contract because it was not possible for him to continue training 3 hours away. We called and sent email without response. We got letters from their billing department when they hadn’t even started back training. We were held to standards that is not even within the contract like “we must give a 30 day written notice to withdrawal” or we will be bill for that period.
Basically in a nutshell, they started out awesome, the instructors are awesome, the whole experience was awesome but I have come to learn they have shady business practices and I would BEWARE if you are considering this location.
i use to be a gold belt bfore i had / forced by parents to leave i want to come back i was 7 i do belive at the time im now 15 man i miss everyone i want to come back because this studio is the best studio to relive stress and the BEST karate moves of them all i was one of the best students before i quite i will come back soon though i im going to work to my best to become a sinsa to others i learn teach and i hope they can teach others but like i said i WILL BE BACK Home soon i miss my and faviote teacher of them all Senisa Brian Hobson and his mom they are alsome im ready to come back Home!!!!

“The staff and the students are like family to me.”
“They also have the best prices in town!”
“Absolutely love this place!”
Five Crow is an amazing place to start your martial arts journey or further it. Coach Rashad Brown is an enthusiastic and awesome coach who pays particular attention to each student in order to develop their techniques to as close to perfection as possible. His programs encompass several different styles of martial arts to make students more versatile in a hand to hand combat situation if it ever has to come to that. Each program also focuses on strength and endurance training to keep students in shape maintaining a positive atmosphere for training.
All the coaches are very knowledgeable in training the various martial arts and weight training programs. This is the first place I’ve ever been that actually has a program for strength and conditioning. Coach Kat personally trains students to increase their strength and condition their body to better perform leading them to a healthy life style.
If you are looking for an all around place to train for real world situations then I highly recommend Five Crow. This is definitely a family run business who truly cares about their students and teaches the true meaning of martial arts which can be applied in a every day life style.
My daughter has been going to Five Crow Little Warriors class for a year now & we could not be more pleased. The coaches are great with her & all the other kids too. She has learned so much and I can see a rise in her overall confidence. It’s evident that the coaches and owners are sincere in their care for the whole child, not just training their physical abilities. It is like a team, a little community, and I know my child is cared for as she is taught. We came with the intention that she get more exercise each day & learn to defend herself. And we have gotten that and so much more. So much so that we look forward to more of our family members joining Team Five Crow.
Started coming here as soon as I got into the area and have had a great experience. I had done minimal BJJ at my previous base and that was fun but the instruction was always kind of confusing. Once I started at 5 crow I felt that they were able to teach me in a more organized way which really helps me out. When life gets a little busy someone is always reaching out to make sure I am okay because they know that being there is my normal routine. I really feel like a part of the team. Also Coach Kat has been able to improve my lifting which I am so grateful for!
