“It’s a great experience with multi style arts all in one place.”
“It’s a great environment for kids and adults and we’d highly recommend them!”
“I cannot say enough good things about these people.”
RPMA has a beautiful balance of friendliness, knowledge and teaching skill. I cannot say enough good things about these people. To me, training in physical skills such as these arts can be very challenging, but RPMA is SO welcoming and take all the pressure of learning away. They break things down intelligently, and you will push yourself athletically, and most of all- you will LOVE IT.
Leigh and Brennan have worked really hard to make a family oriented martial arts school that also does serious martial arts training. The variety of programs their instructors provide is amazing, and the variety of classes makes it easy to find time to improve your skills, to learn new skills, and to stay healthy! I haven’t seen a school quite like this in the other cities I’ve lived in.
Very welcoming school. I attended an open mat recently. As a long-time martial artist, I was happy to see Brennan, Leigh, Jarrett, and everyone were welcoming and accommodating. Lots of different skill levels, and everyone worked to your ability level. I highly recommend checking them out.

“Involves the entire family even if only the child attends.”
“I’m so glad we found Crudup’s Karate y.”
A friendly and respectful academy that fosters students physical, emotional, and mental growth. It’s a great place to learn new skills.
Randy Crudups Kung Fu and Karate Academy has changed my life and become my second home!
My son has been taking classes here for over 6 months, and he has already shown so much growth! ShiHan Crudup and ShiHan Pickett are fantastic with the kids and really stress responsibility, dedication, and team work. I’m so glad we found Crudup’s Karate y.

“Great staff, nice facility, and they even offer other karate related activities.”
“Excellent place for kids staff is outstanding friendly caring people!”
“I know when I walk out of there after class I just had a great workout!”
Kickboxing classes were awsome! The instructors are very knowledgeable and professional. I’ve lost weight and have my stamina back. Great classmates vibes, unfortunately I’m leaving out of country. I give Thanks to the crew!
Finally my son has something to enjoy rather than something electronic. I’m glad to say my son is doing something with his life that is human. He’s also excited to go and always excited to tell me how much fun he had. He wants to attend as much as possible! Get the kid out the house and into here. Def worth it. Thanks again!
This school has done wonders for my son. He’s a typical bouncing off the walls 6 year old, and while I don’t expect that to change, I have seen him apply the self-control he’s learned within this school to his outside life on more than one occasion. The teachers are amazing, and they know how to get down to the level of the kids they are working with. They are all fun and very engaging. If you’re interested in starting your little ones out in martial arts, I would strongly recommend you start with this team of fun, friendly guys.
Aikido Kokikai of Rochester
Such a deep question and one of my favorite lines in music. Though it is doubtful that the meaning I take is precisely what the band originally intended, it’s their fault for leaving such profound line just lying around. As a martial artist, that line has always struck me as what should run through our minds the instant we see ourselves or another in peril. We can contemplate that question all we want, but we can only truly answer it in that instant that demands one. Am I truly willing to fight back, to so “no” to a mugger, to stand up to a bully, to not just sit idly by on a SEPTA train for eight long minutes. Or, will I choose to bear the mantle of oppression? What else could we call that fear to get involved and permit another’s pain or even our own.

“Great group of people and a huge space for practicing Aikido.”
“These folks are welcoming and knowledgeable, and quickly became my family.”
“In aikido, you work with the other person’s energy to resolve an attack.”
Great instructors, dedicated to instruction in a methodical manner. The kids instructor Kerman is a total gem. Not only is he a dedicated aikido practitioner himself but he relates too and is able to successfully teach children of all ages❗ He creates a very positive environment where children feel comfortable to learn. Yet he maintains discipline which is most definitely needed in any martial arts❗
I started my Kokikai journey with AKR, and I’m so glad I did. These folks are welcoming and knowledgeable, and quickly became my family. I was in graduate school in Rochester, and was in dire need of both exercise and a support system, and the folks at AKR provided both – as well as a kind student discount for a poor grad student! They have many blackbelts who trade off teaching classes, so if your time is limited, you can choose the instructors you click with most. If you’ve got your evenings open, even better, because you can take many, many classes with numerous perspectives on the art.
I cannot recommend AKR highly enough. GO HERE!
I have been practicing with this dojo since August 2013 after moving from Chicago. I never thought I would get involved in a martial art, but Aikido Kokikai got me hooked. It keeps me in good shape, being able to defend myself and practice with happy and committed people without bruises and injuries. It’s awesome to jump into a big forward roll or fall safely. I continue to be fascinated how with continued practice a person of any gender or body type can be strong and powerful at self defense. I also enjoy being able to prevent the attacker (or attackers) without injuring him/her/them.
Onto practical issues. The club (dojo) has a huge dedicated space that has classes 6 days a week (I attend 2-3 times). One of the walls has giant westward windows and it awesome to practice as the sun sets. The cost is $45 per month with discounts for students, families and prepayments. I didn’t have to pay for the first few classes before I decided I am in. Moreover, the club has a first 3 month special for $90.

“The number of dedicated martial artists who are good instructors is small.”
“Top quality karate instruction with a unique approach.”
“He can even work with different levels of students in the same class!”
Awesome place! Awesome instructor! Even helps curve behaviors at home! Very thankful since my child has started!
Top quality karate instruction with a unique approach. This karate school specializes in people with special needs but anyone is welcome! This is a great opportunity to learn martial arts at a reduced pace and class size and help you or your child improve physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have personally worked with the owner for many years and he is very skilled. Highly recommend! Well worth it.
I’ve only recently met Sensei Andrew Ragazzo and learned about Step Forward. But I’ve worked with tons of instructors of various styles of martial arts in three different cities across over two decades. The number of dedicated martial artists who are good instructors is small. The number of those who really are called to work with children and do it well is even smaller. And the number interested in focusing on students with special needs is so small as to not even register. But Andrew is the real deal, and with his patience and knowledge and dedication, I believe anyone can be helped to achieve their personal best.
