This has been an an excellent program for my son who has Down syndrome! Brian and Andrew have worked with him to learn the basic moves which has helped him develop better motor coordination and movement. He is more disciplined and able to focus on his gross motor skills. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone!

We feel fortunate to have discovered Wasatch Martial Arts. Master Corrales’s ability as an instructor is excellent. Our children are not only being instilled with a most valuable life skill set, but also self discipline, confidence and self respect that is paying dividends in all other aspects of their young lives.
Bernales Institute of Martial Arts
The Bernales Institute (BIMA) is focused on teaching children and adults how to effectively defend themselves in a street confrontation. First and foremost, the curriculum at BIMA focuses on practical self-defense. We emphasize techniques for actual combat situations rather than competition or points. Although the core of our program is based on self-defense and “counter-offense,” tournaments can be important for development in the arts and we provide opportunities for competition.

I have been training Muay Thai here for 3 months, and have loved every class. The staff and class are very friendly and make a great environment for learning at many skill levels.
I personally have not tried any of the other practices yet. But have heard nothing but good things.
I highly recommend Will and his staffs teachings.

This might not be a fair review because I just joined but here it is.
I’ve done martial arts since 12 and have also have 12+years of Combat Sports experience from many disciplines. I also have 13 mma, 1 Muay Thai and 1 smoker Muay Thai fight. I had moved from Washington last year do to COVID and other complications in life and recently decided to Uber up in SLC. This was the first gym that popped up in my map app so I decided to check it out. I was skeptical to see if Coach Sep could teach me with the little information he had on his site. It only took me 1 day to realize he could teach me and another 3 days to realize this is a GOLDMINE of a gym for such a affordable price! I saw him kick the bag and I saw how smooth and explosive he was, I saw him teach grappling and I learned new things while watching, I saw how much wisdom he had when he spoke, I joined for one day punch pass and enjoyed the class. His experienced students are extremely controlled, saw him do a round with one of his experienced students and never seen anyone with such crisp head movement and combinations in all my life!
Found out he has a RICH history in combat sports that it could be made into a MOVIE! His journey began at the age of 4 boxing from his dad! Learned Thai boxing from a Thai at a young age, 9 years of wrestling, Purple Belt under the Pedro Sour lineage, has many fights under his belt and also found out Prof. Chris Wells 3rd degree black belt and a D1 wrestler teaches on Saturdays!
The most important part was his character that got me to join the gym while he knew I was only staying in Utah temporarily but welcomed me with open arms. I have never met anybody this humble in my life before, a true leader, a giver, leaves his ego at the door, even cleans the mats and wont accept any offer to clean his own gym because it keeps him humble!
Not all but many coaches that I’ve come across always had something to prove to me or would send their top students to rough me up because they can’t seem to leave their ego at the door but not this Man. He doesn’t have a need to do that. When you work with him he wants to learn with you!
I am blessed to be able to have found this gym.
Thank you coach Sep🙏

On a Ladies Night whim my friend and I stopped by Wednesday to see some live MMA action at The Mixed Martial Art Institute’s free Open Sparring Night. Not gonna lie — I had no clue what to expect. Totally blown away! Kickboxing kids drilling on the mat, girls as young as six shadowboxing all decked out in pink, Muay Thai matches in the boxing ring (I thought that Muay Thai was some type of cuisine), Jiu Jitsu wrestling … this took my appreciation for the martial arts to a whole new level … more action than you’d see in any UFC showdown, all in the spirit of the sport. LOVED the family vibe and super friendly trainers there who were all just having fun. Blown away that there is NO MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATION…what gym offers that?!?! Our New Years Resolutions, in a nutshell
Stilettos = Broke
Barefoot = Woke
Can’t wait to kickoff with Sep!
And thanks to Melissa for being so warm and informative (and the reassurance that Sep will take it easy — watching him spar…OH MUAY). We’ll definitely be signing up our little ladies for self-defense / Muay Thai the second spots open up in those sessions for little kids!! So excited!!

I feel very fortunate to have started my daughter at 4 years old at ZENBEI. Fred is absolutely amazing with the littles! The Judoka is an inclusive family environment for kids of all backgrounds and abilities. Fred fosters not only Judo skills but also responsibility, patience, pride, confidence, scholarship, focus, and cooperation. I absolutely adore ZENBEI!

Our little boy wasn’t quite at the age that other schools were allowing kids to learn and we had asked other schools to let him just try one class and evaluate because he is already in pre-k and learning from a teaching isn’t a new thing for him and Fred was the only one willing to let him try being 3 and 1/2. From the get go I noticed that Fred is a great teacher with children and is patient and encouraging. If any person out there is looking to get their kid into a traditional martial art school, I highly suggest they look into this school. I have been training mma for many years and I was very particular as to where I would let my son train at a young age and Judo was one of those styles and I am glad I found Zenbei Martial Arts.
